Diamond Mountain

Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to Insight into the true nature of life. Buddhist practices such as meditation are means of changing oneself in order to develop the qualities of awareness, kindness, and wisdom. The experience developed within the Buddhist tradition over thousands of years has created an incomparable resource for all those who wish to follow a path — a path which ultimately culminates in Enlightenment or Buddhahood.

The conventional story...

Geshe Michael Roach is teacher of Buddhism and Yoga who is gaining popularity in the USA and other countries. He is a published author and holds the title of Geshe (a doctorate in Tibetan Buddhist studies taking over 20 years to complete). This website will present an alternate view of Geshe Michaels teachings and behaviour, which are causing controversy and concern within much of the Buddhist community due to his relationship with femail students and unconventional teachings.

Geshe Michael Roach is the founder and spiritual director of Diamond Mountain. He was born in Los Angeles in 1952 and was raised in Phoenix, AZ. As a student at Princeton University he concentrated his studies in religion and ancient Sanskrit and Russian language.

Geshe Michael Roach currently lives at Diamond Mountain, in Bowie, Arizona, however he teaches at various locations in the USA and around the world. Diamond Mountain is beautiful and rugged, remote, primitive, and blessedly quiet. We came here to learn from the land, to allow the silence to permeate our minds, to test our concepts by pitting them against the challenges of the environment, to learn to work together, and to help each other and the beings who live here.

Buddhist Texts

Some two thousand five hundred years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha showed the deed of gaining enlightenment in Bodhgaya, India. He then spent the remainder of his life teaching others what he had learned out of compassion and concern for their welfare. We present here some Buddhist Texts as taught by the Buddha.
